Among those gathered was Notre Dame recruit Kyle Palmieri.

Palmieri committed to Notre Dame in September 2007 and will join the Irish for the upcoming 2009/2010 season. A highly touted recruit and potential 1st Round pick in this year's NHL Draft, Palmieri has already proved himself on the national stage, even scoring a hat trick for the U.S in the Five Nations Tournament final in February.

In 33 games with the USNTDP U-18 squad this past year, Palmieri had 15 goals and 15 assists, along with 51 penalty minutes. In international play, he added an additional 5 goals (4 of which were game-winenrs) and 4 assists in 8 games.

Much discussion erupted when Palmieri was kicked off of the US U-18 team late this season for refusing to reveal names in an off-ice incident that took place in a hotel room. Reportedly, his roommate and other members of the team were with Swedish girls in his hotel room and were drinking.

Refusing to implicate teammates can certainly be taken a positive. I don't care what others say: Palmieri has character for making the decision he made.

Ranked 23rd by ISS, 26th by THN, and 20th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, Palmieri was certainly well touted before the combine; now, one can only assume that he is moving up draft boards even more.

According to TSN

"Kyle Palmieri is ripped - he took off his shirt and everyone in the room turned their heads to see that the guy is cut."
I sense a Pierre McGuire man-crush on the verge...

Kyle finished in the top 4 of 102 prospects in 9 different tests. He certainly didn't waste any time to hit the gym after leaving the U-18 team:

Standing Long Jump (in)
103.9 This Year's Average
119 MAC BENNETT HOTCHKISS SCHOOL (HIGH-CT)
115 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
115 LOUIS LEBLANC OMAHA (USHL)
115 JEREMY MORIN USA U-18 (USDP)
115 CHRIS KREIDER ANDOVER (HIGH-MA)
115 JOSH BIRKHOLZ FARGO (USHL)

Vertical Jump/Pause (in)
25.7 This year's averages
33 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
33 RYAN BOURQUE USA U-18 (USDP)
32 MATT CLARK BRAMPTON (OHL)
32 CHRIS KREIDER ANDOVER (HIGH-MA)
32 JEREMY MORIN USA U-18 (USDP)
32 CHRIS BROWN USA U-18 (USDP)

Vertical Jump/No Pause (in)
26.9 This year's averages
34 MAC BENNETT HOTCHKISS SCHOOL (HIGH-CT)
33 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
33 MATT CLARK BRAMPTON (OHL)
33 TAYLOR DOHERTY KINGSTON (OHL)
33 CHRIS BROWN USA U-18 (USDP)

4 Jump (Mat) Mode: Average Jump Height
20.5 This year's averages
28 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
26 JOSH BIRKHOLZ FARGO (USHL)
26 TAYLOR DOHERTY KINGSTON (OHL)
25 MAC BENNETT HOTCHKISS SCHOOL (HIGH-CT)
25 ALEX VELISCHEK DELBARTON (HIGH-NJ)

Curl-Ups (max #)
16.1 This year's averages
44 DAVID GILBERT QUEBEC (QMJHL)
41 DREW SHORE USA U-18 (USDP)
31 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
31 JOHN TAVARES LONDON (OHL)
30 TYSON BARRIE KELOWNA (WHL)

Bench Press (# of 150lb reps)
11.2 This year's averages
18 RYAN O'REILLY ERIE (OHL)
17 JORDAN SCHROEDER U OF MINNESOTA (WCHA)
17 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
16 TAYLOR DOHERTY KINGSTON (OHL)
16 EVANDER KANE VANCOUVER (WHL)
16 ZACH BUDISH EDINA HIGH (HIGH-MN)
16 JORDAN CARON RIMOUSKI (QMJHL)
16 ZACK KASSIAN PETERBOROUGH (OHL)
16 KENNY RYAN USA U-18 (USDP)

Bench Press (lb/lb body weight)
9.0 This year's averages
23.5 CHRIS KREIDER ANDOVER (HIGH-MA)
14.3 JORDAN SCHROEDER U OF MINNESOTA (WCHA)
13.6 RYAN O'REILLY ERIE (OHL)
13.5 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
13.2 EVANDER KANE VANCOUVER (WHL)

Push-Ups (max #)
26.3 This year's averages
41 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
40 MAC BENNETT HOTCHKISS SCHOOL (HIGH-CT)
40 CORBAN KNIGHT OKOTOKS (AJHL)
38 ERIK HAULA SHAT.ST.MARY'S (HIGH-MN)
36 JOHN MOORE CHICAGO (USHL)

Push-Ups * Body Weight (lb)
4991.1 This year's averages
9326 EDWARD PASQUALE SAGINAW (OHL)
7757 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
7084 CORBAN KNIGHT OKOTOKS (AJHL)
6898 JOHN MOORE CHICAGO (USHL)
6811 MAC BENNETT HOTCHKISS SCHOOL (HIGH-CT)Steve Hrubyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13118393016732176641noreply@blogger.com2
